Evening Visitors

After a rough start to the day the other day (re: my last post), all that angst melted away in the evening when we were visited by eight deer. They meandered through the garden, nibbling on tree buds and seed pods and digging up treats under the snow. Their general calm and peacefulness was occasionally punctuated by comical expressions of wariness, then when their fears were assuaged they would go back to wandering and frolicking.

In winters past we've had many such visits, but this was the first time they've dropped by this season. It's always a special treat!

(This one reminds me of Rudolph's dad in the Christmas TV show, for some reason!)

Hiya, and welcome! I know that with the proliferation of social media, it's not like the olden days of blogging, when we all spent loads of time hanging out in each other's comment boxes. And I know it's a drag to type anything more than a quick sentence on a smart phone. So THANK YOU for taking the time to say something here (and for visiting in the first place). I will always respond to you directly via email, if you supply an address.
