Alnwick

One of the loveliest things about living a stone's throw from Northumberland is being in close proximity to my dear friend Tess, "met" via blogging some seven years ago.  Since I moved to Scotland, we have met monthly to eat, chat, drink a cuppa or two, and engage in activities ranging from gallery browsing to beach walking to searching out the perfect used teapot.

Today we had a wander around the spectacular Alnwick Garden, where tulips reigned and apple blossom was just coming on.

We admired that extra little celestial touch on the delphinium supports.

And although the cherry orchard was slightly past the billowing white cloud phase, it impressed nonetheless.

The veg garden featured some spectacular scarecrows (not shown: a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle)...

 ...and some excellent planters.

Next visit:  the castle, perhaps?

  1. That cherry orchard is spectacular! Love the scarecrows and boot planters, too. But most of all I love that people are still wearing jackets and hats…

  2. Who doesn't love cherry blossom.
    Wonderful planters.
Yep I reckon the castle should be next.

Hiya, and welcome! I know that with the proliferation of social media, it's not like the olden days of blogging, when we all spent loads of time hanging out in each other's comment boxes. And I know it's a drag to type anything more than a quick sentence on a smart phone. So THANK YOU for taking the time to say something here (and for visiting in the first place). I will always respond to you directly via email, if you supply an address.
